Floating Home
Matanky
About this Project
The Matanky project was originally a remodel. The home, built in the 70’s, was very contemporary for its time.
When we moved the home to our site in St Helen’s to start the remodel, we realized most of the structure had been compromised with either wood rot or water damage. We discussed all the options with the owners and came to the conclusion we would take the existing structure down to the float and basically build a new home.
Pat and Michael were great to work for and knew exactly what they wanted. This is not their primary home but has everything you would need to make it one. The main living area is spacious and open to the kitchen. The entire main floor area has radiant floor heat to keep a very warm environment throughout the cold winter months. You’ll find a spare bedroom/bath on the main floor and another spare bedroom/bath on the second floor as well.
The home sits in the end slip and has views west, down the Columbia. When you open the accordion sliding doors in the living room as well as the master bedroom, you cannot get much closer to nature and water. After it was furnished with very cool furniture and personal touches, it really made as statement. This home was built for entertainment!
Even Construction was lucky enough to have been involved in this project and with two great clients!
